Venesky-Brown Recruitment, a leading provider of staffing and project solutions predominantly for the UK construction and engineering industries, has showcased its commitment to developing its people by joining The 5% Club, an industry led initiative focussed on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.

The 5% Club, initiated by Leo Quinn CEO of Balfour Beatty in 2013, is a movement of more than 300 employers providing ‘earn and learn’ opportunities to develop the skills and talents people need to become more employable and create meaningful careers.

As a member, Venesky-Brown signed The 5% Club charter and state they are:

– Committed to helping the UK’s growth agenda and acknowledge the importance of developing people as both a business and social imperative

– Playing their part in addressing youth unemployment and skills shortage.

– Pledging to work towards having a minimum 5% of their UK workforce enrolled on formalised apprentice, sponsored student and/or graduate development schemes within five years.

– Measuring and reporting on their progress annually against the above metric in their Corporate Social Responsibility section of the Annual Report and Accounts or equivalent document.

– Committed to encouraging other employers to participate in the campaign

Venesky-Brown Recruitment Joins Campaign to find 220,000 People to Fill New Construction Jobs

Edinburgh Construction Recruitment firm Venesky-Brown is joining a nationwide campaign to encourage people to consider a career in the construction sector, which is expected to create over 220,000 new jobs in the next 5 years.

The company is supporting the Go Construct campaign that is set to encourage more people from a range of backgrounds to consider a career in the industry and help them to find a role which matches their qualifications, skills and interests, dispelling some of the old fashioned myths that people still associate with the industry.

In April 2018, Venesky-Brown’s Operations Manager, Bob Mitchell and HR Manager, Hannah Smiley qualified as Construction Ambassadors and now play a vital role in supporting and promoting careers in the construction industry:

A Construction Ambassador is someone who inspires potential new entrants about the industry and is able to convey what it’s actually like to work in construction. By reaching out to local communities and highlighting the many fantastic opportunities available within construction they can help to inspire the next generation of new entrants.

In support of the campaign Venesky-Brown will be visiting primary schools across the UK along with attending recruitment and career fairs to increase knowledge and awareness of the different roles in construction.

As well as an industry wide campaign, Go Construct’s web portal is a ‘one stop shop’ for people to find out about the many different career options in the construction industry and how to start their journey into a successful new career.
